Real Club de Golf El Prat
Terrassa, Barcelona
Real Club de Golf El Prat was founded in 1912 as Barcelona Golf Club by the Conde de Churruca. It earned its royal designation after a visit from King Alfonso XIII and went on to become the most awarded club in Europe. The club has moved twice in its history: first to El Prat de Llobregat in 1954, then to its current 220-hectare estate at Bonvilar between Terrassa and Sabadell in 2003, after airport expansion forced a second relocation.
Greg Norman designed the current 45-hole layout, integrating the course into the natural landscape of an ecological corridor connecting two nature parks. The holes are organised into colour-coded nine-hole loops: Rosa (Pink), Amarillo (Yellow), Verde (Green), and two additional nines. The greens are Bentgrass A4, the same Agrostis Stolonifera variety used at Augusta National, built to USGA specifications. Fairways use Pennway Bentgrass and the rough combines Tall Fescue with Kentucky Bluegrass.
The club has hosted the Spanish Open ten times (1956, 1959, 1963, 1971, 1978, 1981, 1998, 1999, 2011, 2015), with winners including Seve Ballesteros in 1981 and Thomas Bjorn in 1998. In the 1970s and 80s, tournaments here attracted Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, and Tony Jacklin. From May 7-10, 2026, it hosts the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship on the DP World Tour, played on the Rosa Course, marking the 11th DP World Tour event at the club and initiating the 'Road to Ryder Cup 2031'.
The estate sits 26 km from central Barcelona, making it the closest world-class course to the city. Beyond golf, the club offers a swimming pool, padel courts, a wellness centre with gym, a restaurant, and a full practice facility.

The Courses
Rosa Course (Pink)
18 holesThe championship layout used for the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship. Combines the Bosque (Forest) and Arriba (Upper) nines across 6,492 metres. Tight fairways through mature pines, strategically bunkered greens, and the precision demands that have tested DP World Tour professionals.
Amarillo Course (Yellow)
18 holesAt 6,673 metres the longest configuration at the club. Combines the Piscina (Pool) and Abajo (Lower) nines. More open than the Rosa, with wider landing areas but equally well-defended greens. A favourite of club member Pablo Larrazabal.
Verde Course (Green)
18 holesThe most accessible of the three configurations at 6,210 metres. Combines holes from the Lower and Valles nines. Wider fairways and more forgiving angles make it a good choice for higher handicaps and first-time visitors.
