Ryder Cup 2031
Camiral Golf & Wellness
Caldes de Malavella, Girona
Camiral Golf & Wellness, formerly PGA Catalunya Resort, is a luxury golf and residential resort set between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean in Caldes de Malavella, Girona. Now part of the Quinta do Lago family, the resort operates two championship 18-hole courses, a 5-star hotel, a boutique hotel, a wellness centre, and fine dining.
The Stadium Course, designed by Neil Coles MBE and Ángel Gallardo (then chairman and vice-chairman of the European Tour), opened in 1999 and was built to Ryder Cup standards from the outset: spacious holes, spectator banking designed for 30,000, and a layout that allows unhindered viewing. It was named Spain's number one course from 2012 to 2019 by top100golfcourses.com, has hosted the Spanish Open three times and the DP World Tour Catalunya Championship in 2022, and its signature 13th hole, a par 3 over water to a peninsula green, has been named one of Europe's Top 100 holes. In 2025, Ryder Cup Europe confirmed it as the host venue for the 2031 Ryder Cup, the first in Spain since Valderrama in 1997. Lengthened to 7,333 yards, key holes including the lakeside 3rd, the par-3 11th, and the 18th fairway have been toughened in partnership with the European Tour.
The Tour Course opened in 2005, also designed by Neil Coles and Ángel Gallardo, as the resort's second 18. Equally beautiful but shorter and less daunting than the Stadium, it rewards solid golf: wide fairways and strategically-placed bunkers tolerate imperfect shots, while water hazards still penalise the unwary. It has co-hosted the European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage seven times since 2008. The contrast between the two layouts, and the openness of the Tour Course to all standards of player, makes the resort a genuine destination for a multi-day visit.
The 5-star Hotel Camiral and the boutique Hotel La Vida offer on-site accommodation with direct access to both courses, the wellness centre, and fine dining. Nothing off the property.

Can I play the Ryder Cup 2031 course?+
Yes. The Camiral Stadium Course is open year-round. You can book through us as a standalone round or as part of a golf holiday package.
How do I get to Camiral from Barcelona?+
Approximately one hour north via the AP-7 motorway. Twenty minutes from Girona-Costa Brava Airport and one hour from Barcelona El Prat Airport. We arrange private transfers as part of our packages.
What is the difference between the Stadium and Tour courses?+
Both were designed by Neil Coles MBE and Ángel Gallardo. The Stadium (1999) is the championship layout: longer, tighter, built to Ryder Cup standards. The Tour Course (2005) is shorter and more forgiving with wider fairways, though its water hazards still punish loose shots. Most visitors play both.
Is there accommodation at the resort?+
Yes. The 5-star Hotel Camiral and the boutique Hotel La Vida are both on-site with direct access to the courses, spa, and fine dining.
What is the best time of year to play?+
Excellent year-round thanks to the mild Catalan climate. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most comfortable. Summer is warm but playable with early tee times.
Can I rent clubs?+
Yes. The pro shop offers premium TaylorMade rental sets. We recommend booking in advance during peak season.
